March 15 boating

It was another warm day and we tried to keep cool by taking to the sea. We biked all the way to the port of Karachi at Kimari pier, where we boarded a boat to go to Manora island. At first, Raza did a persuasion spiel on me as I thought of sea sickness when I saw the little boats (listen to him on the video).

I should say that I am rather pleased with myself ... no seasickness at all and it was quite an adventure sitting in the boat with others and enjoying the breeze. Here, women sit separately from men, but exceptions can be made for families and couples if requested. Raza explained to the skipper that I would not sit apart from him and therefore, we sailed seated together.

Videos and photographs are actually banned at the port, but ... ;)

The beach was OK, not overly packed and therefore, not as much trash was around. Of course, I was on the lookout for cats and camels and was not disappointed.

We had fried fish from this stall. The place had flies flying and hence, my comments in the video about being alive after the meal.

                                           Our table.

A willing photo subject. I was waiting for the camel ...

... and here comes the camel.

A gorgeous sunset at Manora Island.

A Hindu shrine. Denotes presence of Hindus in the area.
